Pea Gravel

A material used in backfilling underground tank excavations.

Pea gravel is a naturally rounded gravel, so named because each stone is about the size of a pea-1/4 inch or so in diameter. It is an excellent backfill material. However, pea gravel, which is formed in streams by the action of water on small stones, is not available in some areas of the country.
