The most recent PEI Business Outlook Survey suggests COVID-19-related revenue declines slowed in the past month. Indeed, across all corporate divisions, a majority of PEI members reported that May’s results were better than or equal to April.
Distributors and service contractors showed the most improvement, with 35.5% registering revenue gains and another 36.3% reporting business was “about the same” as in April. Only 28.2% of distributors and contractors saw revenue fall in May, with just 6.6% characterizing the declines as “significant.”
Members also expressed greater optimism about the next 12 months. Distributors were the most optimistic, increasing from 5.8 to 6.1 on a scale of 1 to 10. Manufacturers’ optimism rose from 5.0 to 5.5 and Affiliates from 5.2 to 5.9.
Complete survey findings—including supply chain disruptions, staff morale, personnel-related actions, and COVID-19 illnesses—may be found here.
Results are based on responses collected May 28-29, from 179 PEI member companies.
