Allied Electronics Inc. patented the first hybrid forecourt solution for the retail petroleum industry, the company announced.
The forecourt implementation is composed of an open Microsoft Windows system and a closed Aegis real-time operating system (RTOS). The open architecture of the Aegis forecourt controller (FCC) provides merchants and co-vendors a platform for their Windows applications without compromising the security, integrity or performance of the FCC. The open subsystem of this hybrid FCC is distinct from other forecourt controllers and point-of-sale systems in the retail fuel industry.
Ron Walker, president of Allied Electronics Inc. since 1993, said the patent differentiates the company.
For more than 40 years, Allied Electronics Inc. has provided the major oil, jobber, hypermarket and truck stop/travel plaza arenas with technology for service station automation. The company also offers a petroleum parts superstore with more than 57,000 products available online, including the Allied Wireless EMV solution. Allied’s core business is supplying forecourt solutions with more than 40,000 forecourt controllers installed around the world. The company manufactures and sells the NeXGen and Aegis models of forecourt controllers.
