What are the most recent COVID Updates for the PEI Convention at the NACS Show?

The 2021 PEI Convention at the NACS Show will embrace our standard, historical schedule with dedicated education session times and focused exhibit hall hours--and tons of networking opportunities. Our top priority remains the health and safety of all those on-site at the PEI Convention at the NACS Show, and we feel confident that we can produce a safe and successful event. Chicago has instituted a temporary indoor mask mandate, which may or may not still be in place October 5-8. We will keep you posted.

In addition to following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and all federal, state and local mandates, PEI and NACS are actively working with McCormick Place and our vendor partners to develop protocols that will provide a safe environment for a successful event in October.

Registration for buyers is still strong and pacing with 2017 Chicago numbers. New booth applications are being received at a rate that outpaces any minor cancellations. The NACS Show is 95% sold of capacity, whereas most tradeshows are faring at 70% of exhibitor booth sales capacity.

We have not received advisement from the City of Chicago or McCormick Place that would warrant changes in Show status or procedures. If anything changes, we will communicate those changes directly to you. Note that the cancellation of other trade or regional events does not affect the production of the NACS Show, because those other events are produced in other cities, in different facilities and by other event managers. The conditions in each area and situation differ greatly.

News regarding the pandemic, mask mandates and safety protocol advisement change weekly--even daily. A policy put in place today could be reversed in a month and change again.

NACS Show Safety Protocols

  • Reduced Registration Congestion On-site – PEI has added badge pickup for registrants at the Hyatt on Tuesday, where our pre-show events will occur, and we will have a larger footprint for badge pickup and registration at McCormick place to ease congestion.
  • Exhibit Hall Traffic Flow – Wider aisles in the exhibit hall promote traffic flow and reduce congestion.
  • Food Sampling Protocols – Exhibit hall food and beverage sampling is made safer via Assisted Sampling policies.
  • Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) Accredited Facility – The NACS Show will be hosted at McCormick Place in Chicago, a GBAC STAR accredited facility with dedicated practices, protocols, procedures and systems to control risks associated with infectious agents, such as the virus responsible for COVID-19.
