COVID-19 FAQs

PEI and NACS preparedness plans are evolving daily as new guidance on COVID-19 is released. We are considering precautions and proactively running contingency scenarios to ensure we deliver the high-quality networking, access to new products, and thought leadership you’ve come to expect — without jeopardizing anyone’s well-being. Ongoing updates about the PEI Convention at the NACS Show will be posted here.

What types of precautionary measures might be in place?

Is the LVCC preparing for large events?

The Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) is committed to gaining certification in the Global Biorisk Advisory Council's (GBAC) STAR program, which evaluates 20 operating protocols and risk-assessment strategies to enable facilities to:

  • Establish and maintain a cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention program to control and/or minimize risk from infectious agents such as SARS-CoV-2 (responsible for COVID-19 disease) for employees, customers, clients, visitors, the community and the environment.
  • Provide assurance and establish confidence that proper cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention work practices are in place and implemented.
  • Establish a framework for communication and raising awareness of best practices for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention.

View the 20 GBAC STAR Program Elements here. Accreditation will distinguish venues that implement the highest safety standards to minimize transmission of infectious diseases such as the coronavirus.

Have policies and procedures changed for the 2020 NACS Show due to COVID-19?

As we prepare for the 2020 PEI Convention at the NACS Show, we are committed to keeping your health and safety our top priority. The PEI and NACS teams continue to monitor the situation alongside the White House, CDC, World Health Organization (WHO), local public health officials and our venue partners in Las Vegas for guidance on how best to ensure the well-being of attendees, partners and staff on-site. As we look to the fall, policies and procedures for this year’s show may change. Please continue to visit this page for real-time updates.

Will the expo floor experience be affected by COVID-19?

To date, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) has not provided updated specifics for social distancing or exhibit hall requirements. Our exhibit hall layout remains unchanged at this time, but we are prepared to adjust where and when necessary. We have been assured that the LVCC is doing everything they can to open safely with proper measures.

The NACS Show team is working closely with the Southern Nevada Health District regarding potential updated regulations on foodservice and sampling on the expo floor. In addition, NACS is awaiting specific guidance from the CDC, WHO and The Department of Health and Human Services Nevada Division regarding safety and health precautions and preparations that may be required on-site.

What is the PEI badge cancellation policy if the event is altered or canceled after I have paid?

If the PEI Convention at the NACS Show is canceled by the government, all preregistered attendees automatically will receive a 100% refund of their registration fees. In all other cases, cancellation requests must be submitted in writing no later than Sept. 21 to PEI (registrations@pei.org). Please include registration confirmation number if possible. A $25 administrative fee will apply. After Sept. 21, the full registration fee will be forfeited unless the event is canceled by the government, at which point registrants will receive penalty-free refunds. Cancellations that are part of a group discount may affect the rate of others registered within the group. A registration may be transferred to another person in your company at no cost. Contact us at registrations@pei.org or call 918-236-3973.

What is the show hotel block cancellation policy?

Most hotels booked through Connections Housing, the official housing partner for the event, will allow you to cancel your room(s) up to 72 hours before arrival without penalty. The only exceptions are the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino and the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel, both of which require a 7-day-from-arrival cancellation to avoid a cancellation penalty of one night's room and tax. You must book through Connections Housing for these and other protections to apply. Rooms booked outside of the PEI & NACS housing blocks are not protected by our agreements. Send questions about the hotel cancellation policy to NACS Show Housing at 404-371-3394 or nacshousing@connectionshousing.com.

How are hotels in the official PEI & NACS housing block monitoring their staff for COVID-19? What are their protocols?

Each hotel in the official show block has its own hotel policy. Please contact the hotel where you made your reservation.

Does the LVCC have first-aid stations? If so, are the EMTs/staff trained to recognize, treat and process coronavirus cases?

Two Las Vegas Convention Center first-aid stations will be open during the show. First-aid staff are trained to recognize COVID-19 symptoms and to refer potential cases to appropriate medical facilities in the greater Las Vegas area. Both first-aid stations will be staffed during show operating hours. Locations and hours of operation for the first-aid stations will be released closer to October.

How will I be updated about changes regarding policies and procedures for this year’s PEI Convention at the NACS Show?
