Much of the learning that contributes to a person’s success happens not through books, but through real-world experience, typically a trial and error process. Choosing to become a mentee and learning from someone else's experiences has the potential to create significant relationships that can shape your future, improve your understanding of the industry and just be fun! Even industry veterans can benefit.

Listed below are all the mentors who have volunteered to participate in PEI Connect. Each mentor has provided the information for their profile, including areas of specialties, and PEI has posted their unaltered online profiles.

Joey Batchelor

I grew up in south Texas around the oil and gas industry. After high school I served 5 years in the United States Marine Corps as an electronics specialist in the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. Selected to attend USMC Engineering School and graduated as Honor Graduate as top of class. Was awarded 3 meritorious promotions and 3 Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medals in 5 years. Honorably Discharged in 1992 and began working for a family friend who was a former PEI President (Leland Freeman) in South Texas leading service operations for a large multi-branch company. In 1996 I moved to Florida and purchased my own PEI business with very limited funds. I leveraged my knowledge, industry relationships and hard work to purchase the business. The company was a small service business in Miami. Over the next 20 years, while growing my business, I attended several business schools including the Red McCombs Business School at the University of Texas and the Business School at Columbia University in New York where I studied leadership, strategic planning, business finance, business law, and various other key business topics. During this same 20 period, I have built an industry leading team that has grown a single-branch 10 employee business with <$1M in annual sales to a 10 branch, multi-state business with over 200 employee's and >$50M in annual sales. I have realized that hiring, mentoring and developing the best people is what makes a company go from good to great. Our company is sought after regularly by industry peers to talk to their teams about our formula for success.

I would be honored to give back some of my time and experience to younger people in our industry who strive to be great.

Experienced in all aspects of business operation, practical application of safety training, the design, specification, construction and service of retail, commercial and governmental underground systems, above ground systems, bulk facilities, etc. including code compliance, earthwork, concrete, electrical, mechanical, controls and inventory monitoring, through to a finished product.

I succeeded my father as president in 1998 and have two sons active in the business at this time. My wife and I have worked together in the business for over 20 years, so I fully understand family business dynamics. I have been active in PEI for my entire career, as well as our state petroleum equipment contractor association (GTEC) since it was founded.

I am an active Texas EnviroMentor helping small businesses and local governments through the TCEQ. Designer of soil gas analysis system, containment testing methodologies, corrosion systems, and other similarly PST related items. UST removals in 17 plus states, environmental work in 17 plus states and three foreign countries including subsurface investigations.
