Gasoline and other products sometimes splash out through the vehicle’s fill pipe, and get on the hands or clothes of the person engaged in fueling the vehicle. To prevent this, many gasoline station nozzles are equipped with a splash guard: a plastic device that fits around the nozzle spout.
