Positive Displacement Pump

A device that causes a fluid to move by trapping a fixed amount of fluid in a chamber and then applying pressure to force the fluid out of the chamber through a discharge outlet. Check valves at the inlet and outlet of the fluid chamber control the direction of fluid flow.

diaphragm pump and a stick pump are positive displacement pumps.
