I have replaced a WinXP with a Win7 PC. I made notes on the XP NIC and duplicated them on the new 7 NIC. I am getting this error from RubyCommOptions:Error occured while verifying the Sapphire connection. ERR-The operation timed out. (-2147012894). This site is a ConocoPhillips with Viper. The notes I took from RubyCommOptions IP Address 10.22.206.16, SSL Port 443
XP NIC IP Address 172.18.41.130, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.224, Default Gateway 172.18.41.129
Can someone help me on this?

is it windows 7 32 bit, or 64 bit..did you install gemstall as administrator?
I don't think gemstall works on 64 bit systems.

If you look under Start>Control Panel> Network and Sharing Center does the network type on that connection show unidentified network?

Yes to 64 BIT, my laptop is 64 BIT and I have connect to many Sapphire sites. Yes to two NIC's, just like it was with the XP PC. No to undefined. I am sure all the network stuff is working, however the ConocoPhillips Viper IP would not change because of new PC, would it?

Windows firewall turned off on the new PC?

Don't learn safety by accident.

If the PC has 2 NIC cards a persistent route will need to be added.

If the WAN port on the "verifone zone" router truely is 10.22.206.16, then the settings on the NIC will never work. Try plugging the second NIC into the lan side of the verifone router and setting it to 192.168.31.xxx and 255.255.255.0 as a test. Set ruby comm options to 192.168.31.11. Just don't leave it this way!

EPSPAK 3.00.17/ Multiple NIC cards for Back office PC

Problem/Task: Multiple NIC cards for back office PC with Conoco sites.

Environment: Ruby/Sapphire

Cause Issue: Unable to connect to back office

Customer Solution/Action: First, always insure the backoffice PC has the proper IP address. It will be the address of the DMZ port with one added to the last octet of the address. For example if the DMZ is 172.18.14.129, the BO PC needs to be 172.18.14.130.

To troubleshoot, run tracert from the back office PC trying to hit the VFI router external IP. For example at this site it was “tracert 10.22.206.16” The output should show this traffic going to the DMS port, then to the VFI router port. If the output shows an IP other than the DMZ port as the first hop, the network routing is not correct. To force the first hop to be the DMZ when a VFI address is requested use a route command to tell the BO PC to route VFI traffic through the DMZ.

For example at this site it is “route –p ADD 10.22.206.16 172.18.41.129” The “-p” makes the route persistent.

SMS and Gemcom 32 with the IP address of 10.22.206.16. Gemcom32 requires the use of SSL port 443.

It looks like she does not have a copy of EPSPAK 3.00.17 on the old PC so we could copy\paste\install. Can someone send a link?

Todd2869 is right about setting a route, you can also set the NIC on the POS side to have a Metric of 1 and it will do the same thing. We have about 15 sites configured in this manner and have had no issue with Internet/Backoffice functions.

What will a Metric of 2 do? I have in the past given a Metric of 1 to the NIC for Internet and a Metric of 2 to the Sapphire. I did do the route –p ADD 10.22.206.16 172.18.41.129 and it is working. THanks to all for the help.

Metric is the supposed number of hops to a destination address, it indicates to windows what the least expensive route is, so you want the internet metric to be the lower of the two numbers, that's pretty much it.
