i had the exact same problem and was forced to use 5.04.20 as well. it too was an existing site and replacing modems and reloading software did not help. i was hoping that brief release of 6.00.05 would have solve the problem.
what cantdrive55 was trying to say is look at the actual MODEM RESET STRING that is programmed into versions 6.00.xx. crack open a manager manual to 5.04.xx and use that string in place of the one in 6.00.xx
Verifone gave me a new initialization string to resolve that issue a few months ago. Just not sure where I saved the notes. Harrass the helpdesk until they cough it up.
anyone have modem reset errors ans not allowing a download on this version when using dial for network 1?

You are aware this version is Sapphire only? I had the same error and called the Help Desk, 2nd guy knew the answer. In the release notes it is buried very clearly. In the Lad Delivery Schedule it is plain as day.
It does have the rel.vfg as well as relsap.vfg. Even 6.00.06 has it.
