i have a Gilbarco 500s the A side epp pin pad cant enter any info red led behind pin pad is blinking steady but no green led activity put in the blue diagnostics card came up with the diag. screen entry options but also says smart pad comms down in lower half of mono display , tried cold starting the crind still didnt work so i tried the suspect pin pad in the B side of the disp (which is working) and it came up had the blinking red and green led let me enter zip code ect so just for the heck of it i took the B side and put it in the A side and it did not work so put the pin pads back where they originally were and next swapped door node from A side to B side problem stayed on A side so im suspecting crind node is bad a visual look at the led status lights on crind node where it says smart pad A and B both tx and rcv on B side flickering on and off indicating comms but A side only the TX led is blinking Rcv led is out My question am i correct in thinking the crind node is bad if not what then? Thanks in advance fellas

| Crind node is most likely the issue. Make sure first that there isn't a option keypad that's bad. You can also swap cable positions on the Crind node and see if issue follows. |

| Soft keypad and also if there is a keypad on the printer door. The cables I mentioned are the epp cables from each keypad to the Crind node. Don't remember the port numbers but should be on bottom of Crind node. |

| Vitto, EPP's get connected to the CRIND Node, Not the Door Node. Sounds like the EPP cable to the Crind Node is bad, since the EPP obviously works. You can also try upgrading the CRIND node to the latest SW, the system health report in the latest version provides a lot of valuable information. Before all that, try unplugging the aux keypad (plugs in on the left side of the EPP). You can also "move it to prove it". Bring a CRIND node from a pump with no problems into this one, purge memory (may have to do it twice) and reprogram with correct ID's and mode. |

Is it an EPP 1.3 or 2.1? Remember that on a 2.1 it has to be activated (check w/ your RKL laptop tool). If you aren't getting the green flash, that's most likely either a bad EPP cable, or a version on the crind node that doesn't support EPPs. 3.0.30 was the first EPP compatible version, so make sure it's later than that. Though not 3.1.30 as that required secure card readers.
Yes, some other versions will 'work' with EPPs due to previously existing Smartpad support, but they act goofy. |

This actually sounds to me like a stuck membrane key, as was suggested by others.
Unplug both the monochrome softkeys and the CIM door softkeys (call, ADA, PRESS FOR DEBIT, etc) then warm start the dispenser and see if the EPP starts working on the problem side. |
