I just found this site. Tons of info on here. We have a Ruby/Wayne Vista equipped store the Wayne Dispensers are old and giving us problems (mostly locking up, card readers, or CPU issues. I have been considering different Dispensers perhaps Gilbarco. Can I change just the Dispensers or will there need to be changes to the electronics in the back room?

Thanks

Rod

You can always change brands but what POS equipment are you running now. Usually it's cheaper to stay with the brand you have now.

Just reread and see it's a Ruby. Best thing is to get with you local contractor and get pricing.

Its a Ruby up graded to Sahpphire back office software is store watch. OK so if I stay with Wayne can I up grade to newer pumps eaisly or will that also require additional equipment. we really dont have anything called local support. 150 miles away is as local as it gets.

Thanks

I'd have to wonder if your problems are related to degrading wiring or wiring issues.

What are the chances that wiring issues are causing the lock ups? If the system slowly moved from working fine to problems, to me, it would make sense to check the integrity of the wiring to the dispensers/POS equipment. Another thing to check is to make sure the electrical system grounding has good integrity. Good solid ground between the dispensing equipment and the POS is important.

Although I think the engineering should not require this, most techs I've talked with insist all equipment be on the same phase, this should be verified as well.

I believe most techs here will agree that it's a good idea to replace the wiring to the dispensers when the dispensers are replaced.

I know this is not what you asked, but I'm bored right now and needed something to do.

it would be more cost effective to stick with wayne. a good cleaning of the electronics/printers and returning wirenuts in j box can work wonders. But as mentioned before you may just have some bad wiring.

You can do whatever you want. It is your Equipment. Just don't do it at 3:00 on Friday afternoon when i am on-call
