I agree with you hardworking but if firefly talks to the right person in sales they will get whatever they want. No backbone for the support side of things.

****Service starts on install**** Put it in right and forget it!

And we're the guys going behind you fixing things when you inadvertently "break" something under warranty.

You want to play w/out the competition. The business you work for is not paying the cost to be authorized to do what you want to do. If they don't pay to play and others are, how is that apples to apples. You, sir, are the one that does not want to compete on a level playing field.

How much money was spent by your employers to get your original certifications? Not just the cost of the education, but the money they spent on your wages while you sat in class, the per diem expenses, the cost of covering the work you could not do while you were getting your education (that apparently you think you deserve to use without paying the entry fees).

No, you are the one that is not competing on a fair playing field.

That makes me laugh...the uncertified tech who isn't up to date on what's going on makes my job that much more profitable.

I love showing up to a site and fixing in 30 minutes what the fly by night know it all worked on for 2 weeks.

You're like the dollar store. We all know we can get something fast cheap and easy from there, but if you want something that will last...well, spend more than a dollar.

I've been in this business now for over 30 yrs. Been certified Gilbarco, Wayne, Verifone, Veeder Root, all that high and mighty crap. Certifications only give a person power & a BIG HEAD and they think their crap don't stink then. They think they can tell a supposedly small guy what to do and how high & mighty they are. Right now I make 80 to 85 thousand a year & I don't have one Iota of a certifacation. I just know how to work everything & they all work more than 2 weeks.

That's not the certs, that's the person. I'd call that person a douche bag and I bet most of the techs on this site aren't like that.

Certs don't mean crap. It's how good you are and how you relate to the customers. I know alot of techs that are certified and been doing it for years. They are still not worth a crap. That's why I also went on my own. To give the customer better service. Plus how else you supposed to start your own business. I don't feel like working for a company for the rest of my life. Why can't I own my own business in what I love to do. Sorry I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth and have alot of money to dump into starting a major company. What it takes to have all the certs. I can hang with any real good tech out there. The big ASC are always trying to stop me every chance they get because they know I have what it takes, not because im some stupid fly by night. My father has been doing it for 30 yrs and I have been doing it for 17yrs. The techs that don't like it don't have what it takes or the balls to do it themselves. I also have been cert in all the big boys and been begged by them to work for them. I don't blame anybody for going out on there own.
