Wellpoint

A perforated tube driven into the ground to collect water from the surrounding area so it can be pumped away. Wellpoints can be used to collect and remove contaminated water near a leaking underground storage tank.

A pattern of wellpoints, placed around a planned excavation site for underground tanks, is referred to as a wellpoint system. Such a system can be effective in lowering the water table in the area, thus allowing for a dry excavation during the tank installation procedure.
