Conduit

The pipe or tubing into which electric wires are inserted.

In a gasoline station, the electric lines which transport power to the pump islands, or to liquid-level monitors and submersible pumps in the storage tanks, are placed in conduit that runs beneath the station driveway. Industry codes recommend that conduit not be placed in the same trenches which carry product piping.
