Kansas City-based Civacon, a manufacturer of tank-truck components and systems, has announced the availability of a newly designed Pressure Vacuum Vent that is more durable, allowing it to withstand extreme shocks and vibrations that are often experienced in the field. The increased durability of the NV3000 Pressure Vacuum Vent is due to the lightweight polymers that are used in the construction of its horizontally positioned vacuum poppets and vertically mounted pressure poppet. According to vibration tests, this design allows the NV3000 to last much longer than current vents available today.

The design of the NV3000 and its poppets also allows it to meet DOT406 MC306, ADR and EN14595 standards for rollover protection and has also been designed to pass California Air Resources Board (CARB) tests. The poppets are strategically placed on the side body and located in a shielded bore to protect against damage due to high impact from the trailer bounce and surge forces that can occur when petroleum product is being transported.

Maintenance concerns with the NV3000 have also been lessened thanks to a new push-and-twist removable carrier that has been designed for easy replacement. This unique design requires no tools after initial installation, making inspection and cleaning easier than competitive models. The vent also contains a dust screen that has been created to keep foreign materials out of the working portions of the vent. Leakage tests are also more reliable due to the poppet’s stronger springs and higher set pressures.
