Power Integrity Corporation has announced the launch of the Dispenser Wiring DisconnectTM Solution, (DDSTM), a product that addresses a critical problem of compliance, safety, and liability in the petroleum fueling market.

Currently, many fueling facilities do not disconnect the data wiring going to and through dispensers as required by the National Electrical Code (NEC) Sections 514.11 and 514.13.

Non-compliance can create shock and fire hazards during emergency stop operations, as well as during the maintenance and servicing of fueling dispensers.

Jim Fesmire, CEO of Power Integrity Corporation, was quoted as saying, “These issues of non-compliance and store owner liability were first brought to our attention by an electrical consulting firm for a major oil company.  PICO was asked to develop an inexpensive and retrofittable solution for new and existing fueling sites, which we did.”

The DDS, designed for low voltage data wiring, is part of a new generation of distribution equipment that aids in the compliance of NEC 514.11 and 514.13, which address proper circuit disconnects and provisions for maintenance and service of dispensing equipment respectively. Integrating the DDS technology into a Power Integrity electrical distribution panel helps to ensure the electrical management of all applicable voltages and addresses the NEC compliance issues in one modular solution.A DDS retrofit product is available for existing fueling locations.

Power Integrity Corporation is a leader in the standardization of electrical systems in the petroleum field. The company’s website can be accessed at www.powerintegritycorp.com.
